Getting Started
Welcome to the SativaHR User Guide. This guide covers everything you need to set up and manage your HR operations using the SativaHR admin panel.
First Steps
After logging in for the first time, follow these steps to get your organization up and running:
- Configure company settings — Set your company name, timezone, and working hours in Settings.
- Create departments and positions — Organize your company structure before adding employees.
- Set up groups — Create employee groups with specific rules for attendance and leave. See Groups.
- Add your employees — Import employees in bulk or add them one by one. See Employees.
- Define shifts — Create work shifts and optionally set up late penalty rules. See Shifts.
- Assign shift plans — Plan which employees work which shifts each day.
Navigating the Admin Panel

The SativaHR admin panel is organized into several main sections, accessible from the sidebar navigation:
- Dashboard — Overview of today's attendance, department stats, and recent activity.
- Employees — View, add, edit, and manage all employees.
- Groups — Create and manage employee groups with shared settings.
- Shift Master — Define work shifts and late penalty templates.
- Shift Plan — Assign shifts to employees on a weekly or monthly calendar.
- Settings — Configure company settings, departments, positions, workplaces, holidays, and leave types.
- Reports — Generate and download attendance reports.
- Approvals — Review pending leave and overtime requests.
User Roles
SativaHR uses a role hierarchy to control access:
| Role | Access |
|---|---|
| Root | Full system access across all companies |
| Owner | Full access within their company |
| Admin | Manage employees, shifts, settings, and reports |
| Employee | Self-service: clock in/out, request leave, view own records |
Note: Employees primarily interact with SativaHR through the mobile app (Sativa ESS), while admins and owners use the web admin panel.
